SFX: Remove vendor name from target name?

Hello:
This note is intended for members of the SFX committee and ERAC
Stephen Francoeur would like us to consider removing the vendor names from the target names in the SFX menu, since most of the CUNY schools do so on their public web pages that list the databases they license.
As an example, "EBSCOhost Academic Search Complete" would be renamed to "Academic Search Complete".
The exception would be JSTOR. In that case "JSTOR Arts and Sciences 8" would be renamed to simply say "JSTOR".

Mobile Interface for EZproxy

Angela asked me to see if there are any developments with regard to mobile interfaces for EZproxy. Here's what I found out:

bX Recommender Service

This is to inform you that the bX Recommender Service has just been activated in SFX.

The basic settings of the service were determined during the trial run. Here's a listing of the major ones:

The KB Update #41 was loaded this morning. The new targets are:

JSTOR_ARTS_AND_SCIENCES_10

Linking Issues with ebrary

I'd like to thank Chip Stewart (CCNY) , Songqian Lu (NYCCT), and Kenneth Rosenberg (QC) for bringing a couple of problems with linking to ebrary to my attention. The two issues were

1) After connecting to an ebrary book through the (proxied) catalog, the ebrary account login function did not work properly, and

2) Outgoing links to ebrary from an SFX menu produced EZproxy error messages.

Pick lists not run on 7/7/11

The daily pick lists were not run last night, Thursday, July 7th. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. The daylong process of closing Fiscal Year 2010/11 pushed the pick lists out of their usual 3:00 pm runtime. CIS and OLS staff will use the weekend to catch up on other jobs which were delayed due to the fiscal year close and our recent moves to new locations. The pick lists will resume again on Sunday night and the data missed on Thursday will be included in those lists.

Thank you for your patience.

SFX: KB Revision May 2011 (#19)

bX Recommender Trial Active

On this past Tuesday OLS activated a 60 day trial of the bX Recommeder Service in the CUNY SFX Find-it Service. This service produces recommended citations based on the citation sent to the SFX service. Recommendations are provided for only article citations. If a given citation has recommendations available they will be displayed at the bottom of the Find-it menu that is displayed to the end user. Not all article citations will produce recommendations.
