bX Recommender Trial Active
On this past Tuesday OLS activated a 60 day trial of the bX Recommeder Service in the CUNY SFX Find-it Service. This service produces recommended citations based on the citation sent to the SFX service. Recommendations are provided for only article citations. If a given citation has recommendations available they will be displayed at the bottom of the Find-it menu that is displayed to the end user. Not all article citations will produce recommendations.
Example Recommendations
- Towards an ontology of Bob Dylan. Philosophy & social criticism [0191-4537] yr:2010 vol:36 iss:7 pg:763
- Preventing type 2 diabetes: can we make the evidence work? Postgraduate medical journal [0032-5473] yr:2009 vol:85 iss:1007 pg:475
- Insulin and resveratrol act synergistically, preventing cardiac dysfunction in diabetes, but the advantage of resveratrol in diabetics with acute heart attack is antagonized by insulin. Free radical biology & medicine [0891-5849] yr:2010 vol:49 iss:11 pg:1710
This trial is currently active for all CUNY libraries. OLS will be tracking statistical usage and will be accepting feedback on the trial from Aleph Committtees and the CUNY Library Community at large. If you have comments or questions about Bx please contact Dean Bryan or Roland Samieske at OLS. If you'd like to read further about the methodology used to generate the recommedations there is a nice description and related citations available at http://library.lanl.gov/libinfo/bx_recommendations.htm
