How do I count the number of ebooks in my college's collection?

Annual statistics often ask questions about the number of e-books your college has access to or owns. These numbers can be found through command searches in Aleph. These searches may be done in either the OPAC or the cataloging client.

CUNY's Library Statistics Working Group gathers information on e-books using the following set of commands. They are only a starting place and you should build on them to reflect local cataloging and acquisitions practices as needed.

Number of e-books available to patrons (includes AL titles):
Use this in your local catalog (xx=your library code); all parentheses are significant:

(wow=xx and wfm=bk and (wpd=c or wfs=m)) or (wow=al and wfm=bk)

Number of e-books owned by your campus (does not include AL titles):
Use this in your local catalog (xx=your library code); all parentheses are significant:

(wow=xx and wfm=bk and (wpd=c or wfs=m))
