The MARC record I am working on was cataloged using RDA. What should I do?
Though official adoption of RDA has not yet occurred, records cataloged using this standard as a guide are available and may in some cases be the best choice in WorldCat.
Records cataloged following RDA should NOT be edited to meet AACR2 standards. Similarly, AACR2 records should NOT be changed to meet RDA guidelines. The best policy is to make sure that the record you are working on is cataloged correctly following the standard under which it was created. Until staff are trained in RDA, the best practice is to consult Central Cataloging staff if the record needs any additions.
The Aleph GUI and OPAC will be updated to display both AACR2 and RDA records correctly.
